| Aw, thanks, Jana! Actually, I'd be really interested in seeing it if it's possible for someone to download - as no two translations are ever exactly alike. Also, I'm curious as to how they will do it - will it be dubbed (voiceover) like ARTE or will they use subtitles? If they use voiceover, what kind of a match will they find for his (matchless) voice? Will it be an actor with a British, American or (and for me, this would be an absolute bomb ) Australian accent? Ideally, of course, it would be an actor capable of rendering a decent "Ah feenk"! If they use subtitles, they will probably truncate it considerably as people can "hear" faster than they can "read", if you get my drift ... That's a really good article from "sounds-like-sydney" - nice to see someone asking diferent questions for a change. Thanks a lot. Halvorkosigan, I think you should get on a flight to Sydney or Melbourne straight away and take charge of Philippe's ironing board - you're in a much better position than us Europeans as it's really not very far away! And judging from the pictures above, he could really do with your services ... A. | |

| RosamundaThanks!!! - Quote :
- Jaroussky's voice is not huge, but he uses it with finely honed technique combined with laser-guided intonation and kaleidoscopic tone colour. One of the highlights is Porpora's “Alto giove” from his opera Polifermo. Jaroussky launches into the opening held note with the clear, unsupported voice of what sounds like a young girl, which transforms gradually into a full-bodied, heroic sound, burnished with a discreet vibrato. A world in one note.

| Thanks, Kelalla!! I don´t think I´m very bad, really, but I am delighted that the critics agree it has no rival Felipe right now and he wins the race to the violinist Shaun Lee-Chen and the ABO by several bodies. I want to be there!. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Yesterday:" In most sands Shaun Lee-Chen, a young Australian baroque violinist making his solo debut With The Orchestra, would win gold every time, but Jaroussky is a tough act to follow.." Today: "It proved to be even more awkward in performance. Despite violin soloist Shaun Lee-Chen's valiant efforts, his virtuosity paled in comparison with Jaroussky's." | |

| Another great review and some swoon-worthy pictures - but would somebody please make my day and tell me that I'm not the only person to appreciate the exquisite irony of the Brandenburg Orchestra's acronym - ABO ... A. | |

| Oh, dear Artemis! I love to discover the "exquisite irony" of acronym ABO and make your day, but I can´t, because: 1: Maybe my English is more disastrous than I think, or 2: The disaster is myself. ¡¡Desolée, madame!! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| What a wonderful concert in Melbourne for 2013 - Sunday 5 PM I knew it would be great, but I did not expect such generosity. (You know what often happens: the big celebrity singer comes out here, does two or three pieces and an encore and the rest is padded out with the overture to "Figaro" or something-but not here!) As well as programming eight pieces in all, the concert ran way over time with three fabulous encores. It was one of those rare occasions where I found myself instinctively turning to the stranger beside me, and saying "Aren't we lucky to be here!?"
A big thank you to Philippe for your generosity and commitment to the music. No self-centred diva here.
"Stone the crows, starve the lizards, you're a bottler! Good onya mate!"

| Geoffrey in Melbourne, So glad you enjoyed the concert; you sound as though you haven't come down yet! Philippe is always very generous with his time. I know what you mean about celebrity singers - I once travelled quite a long way to a famous singer's concert and it was, as you say, a couple of arias padded out with orchestral pieces and one encore (very grudgingly given). We somehow got the impression that the concert was used to fund a personal shopping trip for the artist concerned! And thank you so much for adding "starve the lizards" and "you're a bottler" to my "Strine" Lexicon - fair dinkum, you've REALLY made my day! A. | |

| Thanks for all the reviews, Rosamunda! Not being very au fait with the internet myself, it's very much appreciated. Incidentally, was anyone able to access "Philippe Jaroussky: A high-pitched portrait"? I tried several times but without success. To add insult to injury, SBS now flood me with e-mails thanking me for subscribing ... A. | |

| re SBS show: I was able to use some technical jiggery pokery (I am an IT nerd in my spare time!) to download the show from SBS website. Subtitling superb as usual from SBS. (I am inspired by young Phil - I have been singing 'Sposa son disprezzata' all day!) Geoffree | |

| Thanks, Rosamunda. I'm very impressed and think that the Urban Dictionary's rather clichéd definition of an Aussie needs to be amended to reflect this fact ...
"Aussie:
A Person from Australia, who:
-likes beer (but doesn't drink Fosters); -consistently beats the English at all sports; -is used to good weather, and hates the UK weather; -thinks the Kiwis (New Zealanders) shag sheep; -doesn't claim Russel Crowe as an Aussie; -thinks beer is the Aussie equivalent of a health drink; -thinks the English, and the Tasweigens (Tasmanians) are in-bred.
Aussies are... who cares, pass me a beer AND PUT THAT NEW PHILIPPE JAROUSSKY CD ON MY PLAYER! "

| Yessss, dear Artemis, I'm about to believe that for an Australian (ABO included) today there is nothing better than a good Rugby championship, logging 30 or 40 greats Tasmania Blue Gum, shearing 100 or 200 beautiful aussies-sheeps, and after, the end of the day .... pints of beer a lot and melt in tears with the "Aaaaaaaaaalto Jove" of this French guy that has fallen from the sky. The heart of the Aussies is mysterious! | |

| Thank you for all the articles and photos! ( OMG indeed) .
I didn´t like the contemptuous and abasing separation to the "species" of fans - " legion of knitters", " huge gay following".... where are all the others then ? Something like " huge straight following", " legion of desperate housewives" or " army of baroque addicts "? N o way. May I take the liberty to remind the writers of those reviews, that all the above-mentioned people, regardless of whether gay or straight, believer or atheist, parents or childless, middle-aged or teen - all of them are in the first line admirers and - nevertheless - buyers of the quite expensive concert - tickets and CD-s , who take some as long as expensive travels to be able to attend one performance of their subject. Sorry, but that is also the reality of being a " fan"...or a proud "legionnaire" of ... whatever you want to be.
