"Opium" in Köln Philharmonie May 5th 2011

I just came back home from Cologne. Among other things apart from the program of the CD, Philippe sang "l'ile inconnue" by Berlioz (unfortunately there is no recording in YouTube), "Trois Jours de vendange" by Hahn and "Le Vent dans la Plaine" by Saint-Saens. It was simply overwhelming, great. One has to know that the Philharmonie is an amphitheatre for 1800 spectators. Philippe filled it easily with his voice, but also created (together with M Ducros) an intime atmosphere, so that you just forgot the presence of the other people. The program ended with "L'heure exquise", the last note put tenderly into the air....
After three encores, (La Havanaise, La Diva del Imperio et Sombrero, playing around with both voices), an autograph session took place. Many people people had brought along several posters or CD's, so that he gave hundreds of signatures, asking for wishes, having some kind words and a smile for everybody. After almost an hour, it was my turn and he apologized because I had had to wait! I already look forward to his concert in Meldorf in July 15th.

I wish Philippe would sing such program as "Opium" in France.
But it seems the CD didn't have as much success as in Germany.

I hope to hear "Opium" live, next august, in Torroella de Montgrí, which is near Barcelona; and I'm saving to go to Ambronay next september too...

Yes, he was in Budapest on 28th March 2009 (with Opium, btw.) - and I discovered him on YT only on the 31th, same month, I'm such a Pechvogel...

I wish he would plan another concert of melodies in Paris. Maybe when his next CD of melodies comes out.

mhh? Caldara?? I think Jérôme Ducros had a lot to do to play a whole orchestra alone
