| Alas, I was not there. But my sister attended this concert. Following are some of her impressions :
The "Chapelle de la Trinité" was fully booked. It was the first time she heard Philippe Jaroussky "live" and she was thrilled by his voice, especially when he sang "a capella". He once turned his back from the audience and his voice came out beautifully, filling the whole place. She noticed that he sang with his whole body, moving along the songs, kind of "opening" his soul when opening his arms. During the interval, the audience could have some "vin chaud" (warm wine) or "soupe", quite unusual ! Philippe gave two encores. The one from Haendel was especially moving. Unfortunately, she couldn't take any pictures.

| yes, he did sing La Monica. My sister will send me a copy of the program, so I can tell you exactly what he sang. The other encore was a Vivaldi. I haven't found any review yet. I must search again ! | |

| I just found the following article, which is very interesting : [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]In this article, Jean Tubéry, founder and musical director of the ensemble La Fenice speaks about Philippe Jaroussky. How they met, and how and when they worked together. He first met him more than ten years ago. Philippe had just made it to the Conservatoire de Paris. Jean Tubéry was looking for a special voice for the annual concert of the Department of Ancient Music. The thema of the concert was : "la rappresentatione di anima e di corpo". This concert was to be given later at the Théâtre de la Monnaie (in Brussels, Belgian) with Carlos Mano. A few years later, Philippe still being a student at the Conservatoire, he stood in for Carlos Mano only a few days before the recording of La Morte Delusa from Bassani. Just a few months later, Jean Tubéry decided to record a concert program, un concert pour Mazarin, La Fenice had given for the first time in 1992. They hadn't found the ideal voice. They found it with Philippe Jaroussky. Jean Tubéry writes : "PJ avait la virilité d'un homme, la sensibilité d'une femme, la fraîcheur d'un enfant... et le talent et la grâce de lui-même." (PJ had the masculinity of a man, the sensibility of a woman, the purity of a child ...and the talent and grace of himself) The concert, on November 10th, was quite special as it was the 20th anniversary of the ensemble La Fenice. | |

| Very interesting interview ! It's nice to have the opinion of a musician about Philippe's debuts : Jean Tubéry seems to have been charmed from the very first moment, just like us ! | |
