I know, in 2000 they made the whole trilogy by Monteverdi at Tourcoing, Théâtre Municipal- " L´Incoronazione di Poppea", " Il ritorno d´Ulisse in patria" and " L´Orfeo", but I haven´t find some more information so far about the other roles of Philippe in these performances....

JaRoWi1647. Thank you so much! This is a great summary of PJ opera roles and very helpful too. Now I see that he has been in a lot more operas than I've found out by the moment! Such a hard working guy! He has already done a lot of brilliant works and is still so young!

"Israel in Egypt," the fifth of the nineteen oratorios which Handel composed in England, was written in 1738, the composition of the whole colossal work occupying but twenty-seven days. It was first performed April 4, 1739, at the King's Theatre, of which Handel was then manager. It is essentially a choral oratorio. It comprises no less than twenty-eight massive double choruses, linked together by a few bars of recitative, with five arias and three duets interspersed among them. The oratorio was repeated with changes at 11. Apr. and at 17.Apr. 1738, the "songs" were sung in Italian by "La Francesina" Elisabeth Duparc .

Dans L'incoronazione di Poppea, le système du décor unique a paru trouver ses limites (notamment à la fin, avec les trois dieux olympiens et le duo Poppea-Nerone). En outre, parce que son livret est le foisonnement même et parce qu'il existe deux manuscrits - de Venise et de Naples - assez dissemblables, cet ouvrage résiste un peu plus aux coupures qui y sont réalisées. Sandrine Rondot est une belle Poppea, tant vocalement que scéniquement ; elle compose le complexe portrait d'une jeune femme, tour à tour sincère, amoureuse et ambitieuse. Le sopraniste Philippe Jaroussky est un juvénile Nerone, en lequel s'entrelacent la découverte du pouvoir et de l'amour ; si sa tessiture est intéressante, regrettons une projection limitée dans le grave. Stéphanie d'Oustrac campe une Ottavia palpitante, ni en deuil ni vaincue, qui se voit ravir amour et, secondairement, pouvoir ; elle redonne de l'importance dramatique à un rôle pour lequel, usuellement, tout est fixé dès le départ. En principe, Ottone est le personnage-clef de Poppea - l'intrigue n'avance que par sa versatilité - et requiert une nature vocale et scénique. Même si nous n'avons vu qu un seul Ottone convaincant (Henri Ledroit) en vingt années, Robert Expert a montré une projection très faible, certainement parce que, comme tous ses confrères altos masculins, il est confronté à une tessiture bien trop grave. A cette difficulté de distribution, aucun directeur musical n'a encore apporté de solution efficace. Le personnage de Seneca a été traité avec ironie au moment de mourir, le vieux philosophe ratiocinant est la risée de ses disciples (cette ironie a utilement servi à masquer que Pierre Thirion-Vallet, en difficulté permanente, s'est vu distribuer un rôle trop grave pour lui, au point qu'il est impossible d'évaluer son talent vocal). Parmi le reste de la distribution, signalons les bonnes prestations de Serge Goubioud (Arnalta), de Valérie Gabail (Drusilla), de Chantal Perraud (Damigella) et des deux Amorini, jeunes garçons issus de la Maîtrise du Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles."
