| No, I searched and found infomation on several websites and compared the dates: — [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] (> an error 31. December) — compared with: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] (> but not all dates are collected, ) — and compared with: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] (> Looked for information about: "Zauberflöte", Munich) Great! — M. E. Cencic has all dates on his website. But a psychological error in the picture: — Hands out of the hose bag!— That once of the biggest mistakes in a fotoshooting!!! > body language! — a typical case of unconscious perception (...) But a good website! — And all important languages! | |

| Got my ticket! The thought of Philou and Maxie on the same programme is making me flip double somersaults. Such a shame it's only a concert version; I would love to see Maxie in a frock again - now I'm SERIOUSLY beginning to worry that the men in white coats will take me away ...

| News for everyone who wants to hear and see "Artaserse": PhJ told me that it will be staged. He mentioned that he has to learn his part by heart, so I asked him whether it would be staged. To my surprise he said "yes". I did not ask him whether it will be played as the staged version everywhere, but so at some places at least it will be. So, chances for costumes and stupid wigs again - and MEC in a frock. And now we know what PhJ will be doing the whole time - learning another opera by heart. How they can remember all that stuff is beyond me, in any case. | |

| Astarto,
Great news! I hope I'm lucky enough to catch one of the staged performances.
Max has form in frocks in Sant' Alessio - in fact, there is one delightful moment, captured very well on the Sant' Alessio DVD. As MEC and Sabata are walking off behind the bier containing Alessio's corpse, Max is smoothing down his frock and trying to look very dignified. It makes me smile every time I see it.
Apparently, when they were rehearsing for Sant' Alessio, they were shown videos of Tamasaburo, a famous onnagata (actors who take the female parts in Kabuki) to show them how to capture the essence of feminity without actually being "feminine".

| Staged! Cool, cooler, coolest!
Well, memorising a piece of music is training, training, training. Using the music to jolt the memory of the words, and using the words to jolt the memory of the melody. Do it bit by bit. Write it out, completely, visualise it. Make a schedule of the lyrics, and the rhythm of a piece. Above the words, in that schedule, make a line do the melody if it is really hard. (I used to do that when I could not read notes yet, to remember , I devised the system myself as a child, and I still use it, I often "translate" from regular music annotation to "my" system) And then the auto pilot starts to take over more and more.
With an instrument it is diferent. Then your hands take over. For a song you have to let your throat take over. | |

| A little. But you can clearly see gregorian in your example. I did not know that either as a child, so it is just points and stripes and lines above words. It probably only makes sense to me.,:-) | |

| "Artaserse" in Cologne has been announced on Philippe's EMI Facebook page a few days ago, whatever that means......the ticket office of the opera Cologne is momentarily closed due to summer holidays until the 23th July. Orders for tickets can be generally placed by E-Mail. Those of you who daren't to wait any longer will probably want to do so. Please look at the website of the opera..... | Dear all, I have bad news about Artaserse in Spain. I got ton know that the project was proposed to the Teatro Arriaga and to another palce in Madrid, but unfortunately they were cancelled. I guess it's a matter of money, this ia a great and superstars opera so it has to be expensive...sorry for the bad news... | |

| With any luck, the performance will be broadcast or recorded and released on DVD, so that Spanish audiences (and anyone else who can't make the concert) can see it. Of course, the DVD would need Spanish subtitles... or the broadcast... or both. At the very least, there shall be official photos to ogle over. | |

| So with the impending release of the CD version of Artaserse coming this October, I would think that the staging would be broadcast at some point, either on TV or recorded as a DVD and sold along with the CD. If not, anyone have a PVR with which to record this gem of a gem? | |

| YAY! Online booking for "Artaserse" in Nancy is now OPEN. The production in Nancy will be STAGED - as far as I know, only concert performances are planned for the other venues. So, nutcases (like me) who are keen to see Cencic rocking a frock (he was great in Sant' Alessio) should head for Nancy. The director for "Artaserse" is Silviu Purcarete who directed a rather wierd production of "Faust" (Goethe's, not Gounod's) at Edinburgh and elsewhere a couple of years ago - so don't expect to be bowled over by an excess of "good taste" ... You can book online at : [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]or by phone : 00/33/3/8385.3311 Good luck! A. | |
