Wow, it's so sweet of him to sing in this kind of event. However it's weird to hear him singing pop! Thanks so much for sharing this video!!

With all respect dear Pilarddcc, Leonard Cohen have nothing to do with the "pop" in such pejorative sense of the word - he is one of the most influential and well-respected contemporary poets-musicians as well as the late Jeff Buckley - the creator of one of most beautiful covers of Cohen's immortal song.  Or I must say it's the same sort of "pop music" as Porpora and Vivaldi only three hundred years later.

Anyway it's really great song - "Hallelujah" - one of my favourites, and it was really interesting to see Philippe singing it!

I think Cohen is as well respected and influencial as Michael Jackson. Or the Beatles, the Stones... what would have been so bad about singing "pop" if he decided to sing it that night? I'd have preferred him to take all risks and sing Bob Dylan..

On a subject: maybe Philippe doesn't divide music this way and likes to sing things of the different centuries and styles; he's not only the great "classical" vocalist but the great performer and stage artist in general.

Wow, wow, calm down, it's not so important! As I said before I didn't intend "pop" in a dismissive way, so I guess everybody is ok. There is no need to be so touchy.

Yes, it's all just good music. And this "Hallelujah" gives me a small hope that one day he'll sing something more of the English-speaking Rock Heroes...  and there will be nothing wrong about it
