| Thanks, Temp! It's some comfort to know that this concert will be broadcast. I was lucky enough to get a ticket but Eurostar has been cancelled (due to strike action in my country) on that day so I'm unable to attend. A. Mercè, Thanks for the tip! A. | |

| My Goodness, what a concert this was!!
I thought Stabat Mater was slightly rushed and somewhat too much ornamentation but once he began Longe mala, umbrae, terrors…Well, it is a cliché but it was spellbound and extraordinary.
It takes a brave and very confident countertenor to have a concert programme with only two substantial works, as there is no hiding place. Countertenors tend to programme wide ranging songs to show what they can do but clearly, Philippe didn’t need such a trick. I know I am biased but, with all those excellent countertenors about these days, I believe Philippe really is in a class of his own.
Ensemble Artaserse sounded wonderfully luxurious.

| Yes, Ensemble Artaserse sounds great and also made excellent display of professionalism.
At one point, the violin of Raul Orellana brokes a string; like lightning, a violinist gave to Raul her violin and she came out of stage. It all happened in a second; the interpretation continued as if nothing had happened and the public, in the end, applauded as ever.
A concert that we won't forget easily!! | |
