From 14 till 18 October, it will be question of the new cd of Philippe.
Places for the concert of October 22nd will be to win and on October 21st, Philippe will be in the Meridian hotel of Brussels at 6 pm when a musicologist will give one conference and Philippe will dedicate his new album

Thought I'd give you my own hot off the press report of the Brussels concert (as I'm having difficulty sleeping) ...

I was very, very, very impressed by the marvellous way Philippe now interprets his texts - I don't know if this has anything to do with his work with Frédéric Faye or not - and to be quite honest I don't think this has always been the case (this is only a personal opinion, so please don't jump on me, folks!).

I loved all the slower arias but was not too keen on the bravura pieces - this has nothing to do with Philippe's singing or interpretation, both of which were great - but I'm afraid Porpora's bravura arias just leave me longing for the great bravura arias of a certain G. F. Handel!

After his first slow aria - Si pietoso il tuo labbro - there were several seconds of total silence (before the thunderous applause).  Now THAT's the correct way for an audience to show its appreciation of an artist (imo)!

Three encores!

Thanks a lot for your feedback! I  completely agree with you  about heart-rending  lamenti- arias and text- interpretation. He is perfect in it, that´s his. The bravoura - arias were written for great Farinelli, so now no one is fit to hold a candle to. I´m not happy in general about the choice to name this CD "Farinelli", though Philippe´s " angelic " voice and very good looks. Try to compare someone with the greatest voice of the castrati- era is too daring, imho.

Mon 1650: Since I'm at my PC, I'll answer for "Rikka" if he/she doesn't mind. Yes, he did. The signing was at the Espace Le Boeuf and mentioned on page 3 of the concert programme. It's not easy to find in the vastness of the BOZAR; I had to ask directions and I'm a subscription holder! It's a shame that the BOZAR shop had to close as it was much easier to find (and a good source of CDs).

1°) What does it represent to you to sing at the BOZAR (Palais des Beaux Arts de Bruxelles) ?

-In time I have learned to "domesticate" the great halls in recitals and opera,
I think the first time was probably about a few years ago ,
with  MarieNicole Lemieux and J c Spinosi , then in operas with other people,
I did a recital later with …..
and in places  like the Theater des Champs Elysees in Paris,
I have the impression that serenity comes with the course of the years  
where the voice seems firmer
I think there are many things that the experience gives
to confirm the young singer
It is true that the first times at a great hall like the Beaux Arts
one can become petrified but then
one gets surprised savoring the pleasure
that comes from the public and the artist.


2°) What king of advice would you give to a young beginner singer ?

- To learn more emotion,
a young singer must learn it is better to move than to impress.
It is true that it is more and more difficult  
to handle  the demands of perfection
being able to handle voice ,security, good acting and everything
and I think that the decisions also come
for example from the director of the opera, the orchestra...
Perhaps it is difficult to manage  the debut
but from the beginning one should go for the
emotion rather than  impression,
one should privilege as much as possible
the truth , emotion before anything…


3°) What would you do  if you were not a Professional Musician ?

- If I had not been a singer, a professional musician
I think I would have adored being a Psychologist,
finally as an artist I deal permanently
with my own psyche...
