Baden- Baden on 24.06.12

To say I ´m completely overwhelmed by the concert yesterday in Baden- Baden it´s to say nothing that would express my feelings at least halfway.
I´d write about each piece an long tractate but at the first I just want to tell you about the absolute masterpiece of the evening ( don´t mean, all the other were less masterpieces) – „ Sul Rodano severo“ by Barbara Strozzi , „staged“ as a little spectacle – the sorrowful story about the love and betrayal , the power of feelings and the dark force of politics .
M-me Lemieux was the deeply grieved „ storyteller“, at the beginning and the end of this heart- rending Lamento, her part was built like a „wreath“ around the words oft the desperate ghost of Henri d'Effiat – the young and beautiful favourite of the King Louis XIII, envy disowned, condemned in a treason and executed a.D.1642 in age of only 22.

As Philippe started to sing the part of Enrico, unearthly and passionate at the same time, I got simply the goosebumps . This disappoitment and bitterness of a betrayed and abandoned Enrico, who try to give also himself the blame of the incident where he was in fact only badmouthed, pierced my heart to the deep wound which wouldn´t heal soon.

Another piece which touched me enormously, was endless tender „Rimanti in pace“ by Giacomo Carissimi.

The concerts with Philippe Jaroussky are always a surprise. I love it.

Philippe Jaroussky and Marie Nicole Lemieux understand how to lead the audience!
Both prove excellent acting skills. Great voices!
The evening was fiery, touching, dramatic, emotional, charming and funny.

Baden-Baden was the 11th evening in the concert tour in June.
Also the musicans was touched by the expression of this evening.
I was delighted by Alessandro Tampieri (violin) with “La monella romanesca” (Giovanni Pandolfi). Thank you to all musicians. Great!—

It was a very successful evening.
Of course — standing ovation — and all people was happy.

The “Festspielhaus Baden-Baden” will give the date for the television broadcast on his website. They publiched this information in the programme book.
