AlexanderBendo, hello,

I would be sure Mr. Jaroussky here is standing, but standing in a specific intentional expressiv manner:

I presume he became caused by his special sensitivity somewhat seasick, when he caught sight of the heavy tilted picture with that causeuse - tête-à-tête with presumed Porpora. So our countertenor took up countermeasures to establish a counterweight to this obviously unwelcome disbalance: To straighten things at least symbolically for just a fotomoment Philippe the joker obviously  took all his physical  artistic skill to create the counterbalance by a diagonal backwards declining comical motion.

I can assure you by self- experiment such a bizarre posture is possible for a moment - if you are sober.

Btw has anybody an idea why they putted the chatting artists-duo on the slant? Is it for sakes sake? think

Exactly!!!!! You´re  just fabulous in your detailed, almost poetic depiction!  flowers good
I´d guess, the skewed position of the both  should give us a feeling of a....freedom and ease of artistic minds .... think Or maybe just  catch the eye with a question wtf ?  Sorry  crazy

Btw, what is  holding our  sober joker in his beautiful hands- his jacket? Look like something blue- white...red is missed- to be a French flag to raise over the " captured" concert- hall.  horseman

your kindly appreciation enyojed my heart! Thanks!!!!  smile  smile

 hello AlexanderBendo

Thanks for lovely praise-flowers! I will plant them in my springtime-garden amongst the marvellous splendor of the blooming tulipans.

I should have thought sooner about the fact, that Philippe and his poster are far away in the very oriental hemisphere were even perhaps today flying carpets  may cruise the air...... then why not a swinging and singing causeuse should cross the carpet's airy way? The more oriental the athmosphere, the easier real levitation will happen!!!

Between his thighs  our contretenor could scramble even some contreband: If he would spread this blue-white cloth between the red pillars  - the French tricolor would be created. But such an infringement is far from a refined frenchman.

The most intresting aspect of the scrumbled jackett is for me the male - female fork that opens into two different directions. You - male I suppose - spontaneously do think of hoisting the conterband- flag, of capturing the art-castle by the horseman brandishing his lance.

On the other hand I - female being - spontaneously think about the jackett: Phillippe severely tests  the crease- resistence of his travel-outfit. An I sorrowfully fear, he could be heavily disappointed afterwards. But I whish he will look fine in Taipei, authenticly fine ------not so artifially spruced up like on the Cover of newest QperaWork . (But this shall be an other post!

Now I am sure, "Philippe the Conquerer" will capture the asian concert halls not by sword but by his enchanting singing art and his inimitable charming kind to be a loveable Person.

Philippe Jaroussky and Diana Damrau equal first for Best Singer award !!!

 fans

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Quote :
Just a year after its revival in 2013, the recently relaunched French label Erato (originally founded in 1953), has swept the prestigious Académie du Disque Lyrique Awards for vocal music, presented at a ceremony in Paris on Monday 30 June.

The Orphée du Prestigue Lyrique was awarded to French coloratura soprano Sabine Devieilhe, a newcomer whose debut album of Rameau arias, Le Grand Théâtre de l'Amour, was hailed 'delightful from start to finish...A stunning debut disc' (BBC Music Magazine) in which 'Devieilhe gets everything right, with excellent support from Les Ambassadeurs' (Gramophone).

Joyce DiDonato claimed the Orphée for Best Lyric Video with her tour-de-force performance as Mary Queen of Scots in Donizetti's Maria Stuarda, filmed live at the New York Metropolitan Opera and available on DVD.

But the most surprising award was the Best Singer prize jointly awarded to Philippe Jaroussky and Diana Damrau. Countertenor and coloratura soprano might seem made to be natural enemies but the two labelmates accepted their shared Orphée amicably; Jaroussky for his Farinelli: Porpora Arias album with the Venice Baroque Orchestra; Damrau for a completely different project, Forever, ranging from Viennese operetta to Broadway. Erato congratulates all the nominees and winners

Congratulations!!!!!! Absolut deserved!!! flowers flowers flowers bravo! bravo! bravo!

Thank you, Jufilfan! flowers The video is very interesting although, personally, I would rather the beluga were in the ocean where it belongs but I guess that being serenaded and stroked by Philippe swoon  must be some compensation for being kept in captivity!  The beluga is also known as the "sea canary" because of the high-pitched sounds it makes, so it's a "countertenor" of sorts.   grin  If I may be allowed to wear my pedantic hat, the beluga is a mammal so St. Francisco would be a more appropriate saint than St. Antonio (ah feenk copyright)!

He should go with oceanographers and researchers to truly know the life of animals. I hope he will be a supporter of freedom of animals. It's a crime to have these wonderful beings locked in zoos or aquariums!!

I want to believe that, at bottom, the exquisite sensitivity of Jaroussky, disagrees with the enslavement of animals.

I ca'nt wait november 26th...

If I may be allowed to wear my pedantic hat, the beluga is a mammal so St. Francisco would be a more appropriate saint than St. Antonio

You are absolutely right: A whale is'nt a fish. But contrarely to all nowadays enlightened biological knowledge in german colloquial speech a whale often still remains a "Walfisch" which has his survival also in Namibia's "Walfisch- Bay" or in the star constellation "Walfisch" at the nightly sky. The christian iconographie  since medieval times shows St. Antonio as specialist in fish- preaching whereas St. Francisco does this to the birds (Imho no mammals too).

The associative headline has been provoked by M. Jaroussky's beseeching armraising embrace  and perfect Byzantine proskynesis . bow

All charming as ever!

I can't answer for Orthodox iconography, but in western Christian iconography St. Francis is depicted with a variety of creatures (not just birds) ...

I'd like to take this opportunity to ask a question of Forum members.  This gorgeous Reynaldo Hahn song has been haunting me for days (a real "earworm").  Are there any Forum members with an encyclopedic knowledge of Philippe's repertoire (Mr. Artaserse, where art thou?) who can tell me whether Philippe has ever sung it in concert, or recorded it?  If it's not in his repertoire, I think it should be; it would make a great "rappel" piece for one of his "Opium" concerts.  I love both versions posted below but, if pressed, have to admit to a slight preference for Gérard Souzay's version.

Your new lyrical project, Only the Sound Remains, is also based on texts translated and adapted by Ezra Pound.
KS: As usual, one thing often leads to another. Soon after reading Ezra Pound’s poems and adapting them, Peter Sellars proposed a work on two classical Noh plays adapted by Pound in collaboration with the translator Ernest Fenollosa.
My creation of a version of La Passion de Simone for chamber orchestra also influenced this new project, because it consists of a vocal ensemble of four voices, instrumentation for only seven instruments, and electronics. The main character will be a countertenor, and we will collaborate with the French singer Philippe Jaroussky. I already finished the first part of this work—"Tsunemasa.” This project is co-commissioned by three Opera Houses—Amsterdam, Paris, and Toronto.

A Jaroussky rendition of the Barcheta would just melt entire audiences.

Thank you, Artemis, for leading me to it.
